The Magnetic Compass:
When people think of instruments that help with finding directions,
the first thing most people think of is most likely is the magnetic compass. It is the oldest piece of machinery for directional use and
has been a vital tool for people at sea for a very long time. later compasses were made of iron needles magnetized by striking them with a lodestone. The dry compass was invented in medieval Europe
around 1300. This was supplanted in early 20th century by liquid-filled magnetic compass.

Asrolabe
An astrolabe also known as a star taker is an elaborate inclinometer , used by astronomers ,navigators, and astrologers. It can be used for many things like locating and predicting the places of things in space like the sun, moon, planets, and stars, determining the local time given in local latitude and vice-versa, surveying, triangulation, and to cast horoscopes. It was used in classical antiquity. The Islamic Golden Age. The European middle ages and renaissance for all these purposes. In the world of Islams, it was also used to calculate the Qibla and to find time for Salat prayers. There is a lot of times confusion between the astrolabe and the mariner's astrolabe. While the astrolabe could be useful for figuring out latitude on land, it was an awkward instrument for use on the heaving deck of a ship or in the wind. The mariner's astrolabe was developed to solve these problems. The first astrolabe was invented in 150 BC in hellenistic world.
Caravel:
The caravel of the 15th and 16th centuries was a ship with a distinctive shape and admiral qualities. a gently sloping bow and single stern castle were prominent features of this vessel, and it carried a mainmast and a mizzen that were generally lateen rigged. although the caravel had already been in use for hundreds of years it was developed into an incredibly fast, easily maneuverable vessel by this time, which was noticed by eminent people. This extraordinary vessel gained fame with Portuguese and Spanish voyages of discovery.
